The 202nd Engineering Installation Squadron is responsible for installing, repairing, and servicing command, control, communication, and intelligence systems at Air Force bases worldwide. In 2011, the unit deployed to the Middle East for 180 days to support missions in Afghanistan and other countries, receiving numerous decorations for their contributions. At the same time, the unit relocated from Macon Airport to Robins Air Force Base as directed by the Base Realignment and Closure commission. Comprised of 111 personnel, the 202nd received awards for outstanding unit performance and family readiness.

1. 202nd Engineering Installation Squadron
The engineering, installation, removal, relocation, repair and serviceability of sophisticated
command, control, communications, computers, intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance
systems at Air Force installations worldwide is the responsibility of the men and women of
Robins Air Force Bases 202nd Engineering Installation Squadron.
The unit also provides disaster relief and assists state authorities during emergencies by
providing disaster recovery, restoration and repair of Ga. DoD, federal and civil communications
infrastructure.
In 2011, the unit was mobilized for a 180-day boots-on-the-ground deployment to the
Middle East. In addition to supporting its USAFCENT Aerospace Expeditionary Force mission,
the unit received a joint expeditionary tasking to directly support the U.S. Army at Forward
Operating Bases in Afghanistan.
Working in a total of seven different countries in South West Asia, members of the 202nd
were awarded an impressive array of decorations for their contributions to the war effort. These
decorations include four Bronze Stars, four Air Force Commendation Medals, 15 Army
Commendation Medals, two Air Force Achievement Medals, and 7 Army Achievement Medals.
At the same time the unit was mobilizing, it was also completing its BRAC-directed
relocation from its 59-year home at the Macon Airport to Robins AFB.
The 202nd received its fourth consecutive and eighth overall Air Force Outstanding Unit
Award in 2011 and was named the Georgia Air National Guard Family Readiness Unit of the
Year. Today, the unit has 111 personnel in a variety of Air Force specialty codes.
This outstanding team support ensures the squadron is ready to live up to its motto: Global
Technicians, Anytime - Anywhere.
