This document summarizes and analyzes the poem "Bamiyan Buddha" by Pravin Gadhvi. It discusses how in the poem, the Buddha leaves behind pleasures of life, wine, and mountains to free himself from the cycle of birth and death and become formless. However, the poem notes that those who chisel and decorate Buddha's statues with gold, and those who destroy them, are both blind by birth to his true message.

3. Bamiyan Buddha
I had left
Leaving gold, gems, pleasures
of life
Keeping Rahul weeping
And Yashodhara Sleeping.
I had left
Kicking silver glasses of wine

I had left
Crossing Vidhyachals
Mountains, the breast of
Courtesans
I had left to free
Myself from two ends of birth
and death
I wanted to be formless.

Now you see
Both are blind by birth
Those who are chiseling
My Statues and
Decorating with
Golden ornaments.
And those who are
Destroying my statues.
