This document provides 3 notches, or tips, for better writing. Notch 1 advises to think before writing by outlining or jotting down ideas. Notch 2 states that rewriting is key to good writing and to reuse phrases from old work. Notch 3 emphasizes that writing does not need to be perfect, others do not need to see drafts, rules can be broken if the outcome is great, and to simply start writing.

Writing is a craft. Employ your skill and
knowledge to make your art better.
Pick over the corpses of old work. Sometimes
phrases that did not work in other pieces might
just work in this one.
11. Your work does not have to be
perfect.
Nobody has to see the work
before you want them to see it.
It is just fine to break the rules, if
the outcome is terrific.
