Nikola Tesla was a Serbian-American inventor, electrical engineer, mechanical engineer, and futurist who is best known for his contributions to the design of the modern alternating current (AC) electricity supply system. Some of his key accomplishments included developing the AC induction motor and developing the AC power transmission system. He immigrated to the United States in 1884 to work for Thomas Edison but later struck out on his own.
