1. 5286022-36689Leonardo DaVinci Third Grade<br />Day 4 of Unit: Podcast summation of learned facts for unit<br />40 minute class period<br />Objectives and Goals:<br />Students will demonstrate their knowledge of Leonardo DaVinci by successfully locating and organizing information for a Podcast recording that: is well formatted, contains good audio sound, uses a well written data sheet, has 8-10 correct facts and displays effort. The teacher will facilitate and guide this investigative learning, while providing students with activities that differentiate to all levels of student learning. Students will have the opportunity to engage in a wide variety of stations that interest them, while researching and composing their summations. <br /> Procedures and Activities: <br />After the teacher pre-organizes the set up of all learning centers (ART-SMART CENTERS),
2. She will explain that students will rotate to 3 of 5 possible stations of their choice to gain and organize information about Leonardo’s life and accomplishments.
3. During these 10 minute intervals, they will be using an organized worksheet from the teacher to collect fun and interesting data at these areas in ways that suite their differentiated learning style.
4. The students will then be informed that these facts will broadcasted as a Podcast next class, using the online Audacity platform. http://audacity.sourceforge.net/ Teacher will assist with the technical end of this audio recording.
5. The rubric will be posted and review for understanding (see last page)
6. Kids may explore and expand on facts pre-taught in past lessons or new information students discover through their research (individually or as a team).
7. Students are encouraged to explore areas that interest them while using a variety of technological resources.
8. At this time, students are reminded of the posted rubric requirements and directed and encouraged as necessary. <br /> <br />Day 5: (Audacity recording of information collection)<br />40 minute class period<br />Continued …<br />Objectives and Goals:<br />Students will individually rehearse and record their Podcast speech to state up to 10 of their collected facts regarding Leonardo’s life. Students will complete this audio in less than one minute and do so following the rubrics posted in class. This should demonstrate their knowledge of Leonardo DaVinci.<br />Procedures and Activities: <br />The teacher will review last week’s assignment and encourage students to read over their collected information.
9. The teacher will explain and demonstrate the sequence of recording a Podcast to the entire group through demonstration.
10. When the first student is ready, the teacher will guide each participant as they perform their vocal summation of facts for the presentation.
11. Students in waiting will be perfecting the rubric requirements, while rehearsing individually or with neighbors until they are ready.
12. Upon the last recorded statement, the teacher will organize Closure: <br />Students will be praised for their involvement and research. The teacher will give a brief synopsis of how the audio will be finalized and explain that they will get to listen to it during the next class.
