A worker did not complete a task due to unavailable funds, an uncontrollable factor that was known about earlier. Marx was perplexed by a boss's fury over the incomplete work since the lack of funds was not the worker's fault. No one wants problems if a solution is known, so the boss should not have been angry given the earlier awareness of the funding issue.
