Ancient Greece developed between 2800 BC to 300 BC and was comprised of two main civilizations - the Minoan and Mycenaean civilizations. The Minoans had a society with ruling and common classes and women had significant roles and rights. The Mycenaeans had lesser nobility and large lower classes. Ancient Greek culture made major contributions to literature, drama, sculpture, architecture and philosophy. Their clothing consisted mainly of tunics, cloaks and himations made from wool and linen. Women wore diplaxes and men and women wore sandals. Hairstyles and accessories varied by period and gender.
