1. Amazon – Seattle, WA
Amazon headquarters started in Jeff Bezos’ garage in Seattle, Washington. The year was
1994. Bezos was 30 years old when he quit his job on Wall Street and started the internet
company that today brings in a whopping $61 billion a year. In December 2015, Amazon built
a 37-story office building known as Amazon Tower I. Amazon Tower II is projected to be
finished in September 2016, and Amazon Tower III is slated to be completed by the end of
the decade. They are also building these three intersecting spheres right now. The spheres
will be 65,000 square feet and the employees will be able to walk, lounge, eat lunch,
brainstorm, and even conduct meetings in these spheres once they are complete.
2. Corus Entertainment – Toronto, Canada
Corus Entertainment was formed in 1999 by JR Shaw, as a spin-off from
Shaw Communications. Have you ever watched Saturday morning
cartoons on the Cartoon Network? I know I have, and so have children
around the world. Corus Entertainment is the broadcasting company
responsible for those cartoons. Enter the headquarters of Corus
Entertainment and see how kids around would want to grow up and
work there, too. A 3-story slide and a five-story dual sided living green
wall. Who wouldn’t want to work here?!
3. CBRE – Glendale, CA
Formerly a Masonic Temple in Glendale, California, this building is now home to
CBRE’s North Los Angeles office. The nine-story, 1929 landmark Art Deco building is
24,000 square-feet and was renovated in less than 10 months. Sometimes the
workers are extremely busy. However, not to worry, because the amenities in their
new office space offer a concierge service where workers can call a concierge to pick
up and drop off their dry cleaning, fill their cars with gas, order a pedicure at their
desk, arrange for party planning, and so much more.
4. Activision Blizzard – Santa Monica, CA
Activision is the company that makes games such as World of Warcraft and
Call of Duty. Ring a bell? Well, these employees have some fun while they
work! Not only do they get to play video games all day, but, one day a year
they have and annual company-wide squirt gun battle. All workers (and
bosses) wear costumes and participate in this water gun fight.
5. Facebook – Manhattan, NY
Located in Manhattan’s Greenwich Village, Facebook’s New York operations do not
disappoint. The building that houses Facebook is also home to AOL and Adweek.
There are more than 300 employees in this two-story office, which has an assortment
of amenities such as microkitchens, a library, a music room, and a pretty cool
cafeteria named Desimone’s. Not the worst place to go to work everyday!
