Tips from top from
professionals on Reedsy
Engage with every
author and book!1.
Have I worked on a similar project
before?
Can I relate with the story / person at
all?
How can I respond with a personal
touch?
Ask yourself...
I read your sample and
immediately fell in love
with your story!
I can be flexible on the
delivery and payment
dates as needed
Heres how working
together will look
like first, I will
Ive attached a sample
editorial letter to show you
how I approach my edits
Things you might say...
Dear Amanda,
I read your sample and immediately fell in love with your story. As I have a huge
love for Peruvian folklore, I really enjoyed the setting you chose!
I will work with you on in depth story problems and a broader overarching story
edit through an editorial letter. If the story is in order, I will focus more on
writing and scene development.
Once you receive my edits, I then make myself available for your questions and
concerns. I can even help you with a revision outline if needed. Finally, once your
edits are completed, we can talk about the next steps in your publishing journey.
I offer this because so many writers find it difficult to break into the market, and I
hope with my help, I can make it a bit easier for you!
Please let me know if you have any further questions. I can also be flexible on the
delivery and payment dates as needed.
I hope we can work together!

Designers does the cost include stock imagery?
Ghostwriters is there a max word count?
Marketers & Publicists what level of support can they expect? What cant
you guarantee?
Developers how many rounds of feedback and edits? Are brand assets
provided? Further support?
Be clear on whats (not!) included
Make templates
your best friends3.
Hi Sunil,
Thank you so much for considering me for your project! Ill look over your sample
pages and get back to you within the next 24 hours with an offer if I think we are a
good fit. In the meantime, a few questions for you:
1. What is your exact word count
2. Are you interested in self-publishing or pursuing traditional publishing with
agent/publishing house with this project (or are open both/hybrid author)?
3. Can you send a 1-5 page synopsis?
4. If you use a pen name, can I get both your pen name and your legal name?
5. What country do you currently live in?
Ive also pasted an FAQ below. It includes questions I am commonly asked and their
corresponding answers. If you have any questions not addressed below, please let
me know! I do stick to normal 9-5 (M-F) office hours, and I try to make sure to
respond to any messages sent my way within 24 hours, unless its a weekend, and
then I tend to respond on Monday.
All my best, Ricardo
