The following points of access to state recreation areas along Chena Hot Springs Road in Alaska are closed to the public due to safety concerns related to the nearby Stuart Creek 2 Fire: Mile 26.5 Flat Creek Slough Boat Launch, Mile 27 Rosehip Campground, Mile 29.9 Compeau Trail, Mile 31.6 Colorado Creek & Stiles Creek Trailhead, Mile 32.2 Chena River Cabin, Mile 36.5 Mist Creek Trail, Mile 39.5 Granite Tors Trail, and Mile 42.3 Hunt Memorial Cabin. All other areas within the Chena River State Recreation Area remain open for day use only until further notice. An evacuation watch has been issued for Chena Hot Springs Road

Evacuation Watch for Chena Hot Springs Road for MP 14-30 leads to
closure of multiple points of access to state recreation area
(Fairbanks, AK) – The following points of access to state recreation areas along Chena Hot Springs Road are
closed to public use until further notice due to safety concerns in relation to the Stuart Creek 2 Fire.
ï‚· Mile 26.5 Flat Creek Slough Boat Launch
ï‚· Mile 27 Rosehip Campground (under
construction, not open to public)
ï‚· Mile 29.9 Compeau Trail
ï‚· Mile 31.6 Colorado Creek & Stiles Creek
Trailhead
ï‚· Mile 32.2 Chena River Cabin
ï‚· Mile 36.5 Mist Creek Trail
ï‚· Mile 39.5 Granite Tors Trail
ï‚· Mile 42.3 Hunt Memorial Cabin
ï‚· Mile 47.7 North Fork Cabin
All other areas within the Chena River State Recreation Area are open to day-use only until further notice.
Please be advised that if the Chena Hot Springs Road is closed, it will happen fast. The road will be closed to
public access at Nordale Road.

information about the recreational sites, please call 907-451-2695. As of 12 p.m. on July 2, the Fairbanks North
Star Borough has issued an Evacuation Watch for Chena Hot Springs Road MP 14-30. The public is asked to
maintain situational awareness as fire activity could be unpredictable and rapid growth could occur at any
time. In the event of an emergency, please safely exit the area. If you encounter smoke along the road, drive
slowly with your headlights on. Drive with extra caution around firefighters and equipment.
