Erra began riding motorcycles in 1991 when Kawasaki gave her a Ninja ZXR 750. She was fascinated by the size of superbike tires and how powerfully they produced sound. Erra used to ride 3-4 times a week but now rides less frequently due to work commitments. Though riding is less of a priority now, it remains important to her. Erra enjoys riding for pleasure with friends rather than serious racing. She has experienced some falls while riding but maintains her passion for motorcycles.

1. BART: So,what was your first motorcycle?
ERRA: It was a Kawasaki Ninja ZXR 750 back
in the year 1991. I was lucky at that time.
Recognizing my interest in bike and because
not many women were involved in biking
at that time, Kawasaki gave me the privilege
to choose any bike from their showroom (it
was at Jalan Ipoh back then) as some kind of
promotional strategy for them and the Ninja
got my attention.Though I was not officially an
ambassador, I got the chance to sample almost
every bike at their show room.
B:What made you get into bikes?
E: What triggered my love for bikes in the first
place was the sheer size of a superbikes tyres.
It was so huge and I am so fascinated just by
the way it looks. Secondly the way big bikes
produce their sounds. For me, it just utterly
macho and from the first time I sat on a bike,
I have been hooked ever since. It was mostly
my friends who got me interested in bikes.
My family had objected to this interest of
mine in the very beginning but they seem to
understand now.
B: How often do you ride your bikes?
E:It used to be quite often, like three or four times
a week just to have coffee with friends but that
was a long time ago, about 10 years back. I still
ride now but not as often as I used to due to work
commitments nowadays.
B:What place does your bike take in the list of
your most important things?
E: It was somewhere in second or third place
way back then but I cant afford to say the same
now. My time is very limited due to the stressful
workload but Ill ride whenever I can, just to
enjoy the bike and the roads. Though it might
fall in position, it will never go out of my list for
sure. For me,you ride a bike when you really want
to enjoy the roads. A car is just to carry a person
from point A to point B.

2. B: What is your ride now? What made you
choose it?
E: A Harley Davidson Sportster Custom. Again, it
was suggestion from friends since they all ride a
Harley. Its easy to ride, not too big and sounds
like thunder.I just love it.
B: And how do you find the bike?
E: My idea of riding is to enjoy the road with
friends, nothing serious to the extent it demands
a knee sliding technique or something. So my
bike serves its purpose quite well.
B:Youre a former beauty queen and we know
riders get sweaty. How do you deal with that?
E: It was merely a title that people gave but I was
born with passion to ride. When Im on bike,I just
want to ride and ride.
B: Do you do your own minor repair and
maintenance such as tightening the chain
lines?
E: Not at all. Not a single thing. Its a job for the
mechanic at the workshop.
B: How do the boys reactwhen they realise
that its actually Era Fazira who stops beside
them at some traffic light?
E: Most of the time, they do not recognise me
due to the smoked visor but they are aware it is
a female rider.But on certain occasions,there are
some who actually pull out their camera phones
and ask me to smile. So I just smile.
B: How far have you gone on a bike?
E: It just happened recently, a two-day ride from
Kuala Lumpur to Penang and back via Ipoh.
When Im
on bike,
I just want
to ride
and ride

4. B: Have you ever raced? Any plans for the
future?
E:A proper race,no.But you know people do race
when they were young. Its just for fun but it was
dangerous. I have never intended to race, not in
a proper race and especially not in an illegal one.
B: Any specific race that you follow?
E: I used to watch track days at Batu Tiga in Shah
Alam during its hey day but as for now,no.Again
for the same reason, limited time you see.
B: Any bad experiences? Have you ever fallen
off?
E: Oh yes. Quite a few times actually. Especially
with that Ninja. Theres this one time that I will
neverforget.Iwaswiththisbikinggroup,heading
from Bangsar to BatuTiga race track but I was left
behind, as everyone was faster than me. While
negotiating some corner,I fell and the next thing
I know, I was inside this drain. The Harley group
who was right behind me saw that accident and
they helped me out. And although my bike was
towed,I still went on to Batu Tiga.
B: Do you carry in your body any scars and
wounds from that?
E: I do but luckily not in my face. There are a few
battle scars mostly on my legs.
B:Okay,I know the answer will be a no but will
you...err...go for a date?
E:No
