The 78th Homeland Response Force (HRF) was selected as one of 10 forces to support FEMA in responding to chemical, biological, nuclear, or radiological incidents. It is headquartered in Marietta, GA and commanded by Col. Michael Scholes, Sr. The 78th HRF provides disaster response capabilities and has deployed some of its subordinate units to Afghanistan and Cuba to support overseas operations. It was fully certified as a homeland response force in November 2011.
