A brief introduction to islam
CPS International, the Centre for Peace and Spirituality, as is apparent from its name, is an organization, which aims to promote and reinforce the culture of peace through mind-based spirituality. Non-profit-making and non-political in nature, it is engaged in promoting peace and spirituality through inter-faith efforts. Drawing inspiration from the Quran, the preserved word of God, and the Sunnah, the sayings and actions of the Prophet Muhammad, the Centre seeks to share the spiritual principles of Islam with the world and to reveal its true face, based as it is on peace, tolerance and co-existence. Our Founder: Maulana Wahiduddin Khan The Centre was founded in January 2001 by Maulana Wahiduddin Khan, an Islamic scholar who has adopted peace, spirituality and inter-faith harmony as the mission of his life. According to him, peace and spirituality are both, in fact, two aspects of the one truth. - 3. Inner content of Islam is faith and its external manifestation is submission. Islam is manifestation, and faith in a heart. Prophet Muhammad One day Gabriel came to the Prophet and asked, "What is faith?" The Prophet replied, Faith is to believe in God, His angels, the meeting with Him, His prophets, and to believe in life after death." Then he asked, "What is Islam?" The Prophet replied, "To worship God alone and none else, to offer prayers regularly, to pay the compulsory charity (zakat) and to observe fasts during the month of Ramadan.
- 4. The spirit of Islam is peace. Assalamu-Alaikum wa rahmatullah The Sufis phrase Sulh-e-Kul, peace with alltruly expresses the spirit of Islam.

- 6. God Almighty has sent the same message since the beginning through Prophets. Quran is the preserved book of Gods message.
- 7. Problems of life are not an evil but a result of misuse of God-given freedom. This freedom was given to man for test. This is the truth from your Lord. Let him who will, believe in it, and him who will, deny it. The Quran, 18:29 We have created man into a life of toil and trial. The Quran, 90:4
- 8. Respect and reconciliation with all. For you, your religion and for me, mine. The Quran,109:1-6 In times of conflict: Reconciliation is the best. The Quran, 4:128
- 9. Follow cow-culture and repel evil with good. Good and evil deeds are not equal. Repel evil with what is better; then you will see that one who was once your enemy has become your dearest friend. The Quran, 41:34
- 10. Peace is the method of Islam as also the way of nature. The sun is not allowed to overtake the moon, nor does the night outpace the day. Each in its own orbit runs. The Quran, 36:40 God compares a good word to a good tree? Its root is firm and its branches are in the sky, it yields its fruit each season with its Lords permission. The Quran, 14:24-25
- 11. Those who follow the path of peace in this world will be allowed an entrance into Gods Paradise. O soul at peace, return to your Lord, well-pleased, well-pleasing. Join My servants. Enter My Paradise. The Quran 89: 27-29
