Apple was founded in 1976 by Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak as Apple Computers Inc., known for its Macintosh line of computers. In 1998, Apple launched the iMac to revive its fortunes and in 2007 dropped "Computers" from its name upon launching the iPhone. Apple is renowned for its hardware products like Macs, iPods, iPhones and iWatches as well as software like iTunes, iLife, and the Mac OS X operating system, and its secretive approach to new product launches.
