Carole Pilkington, a 58-year-old woman from Heaton who has been blind for six years, abseiled down the 60-meter clock tower at the Trafford Centre to raise money for Guide Dogs UK, a charity she supports since getting her guide dog Merlin in 2008. Carole has so far raised 贈123 for Guide Dogs UK through her daring abseil challenge. Carole credits Merlin and Guide Dogs UK with helping her regain independence and appreciates everyone who has donated to the charity. Maintain Hope is a volunteer group formed by Irish citizens that brings orphans from Ireland to volunteer in Kenya. During their recent visit, they brought 59 orphans and 30 volunteers to a beach resort where they also built 3 classrooms at a local school. The new classrooms were officially opened by local government and resort officials. Volunteers from Maintain Hope and Ireland taught classes on various subjects and sponsored school supplies, uniforms, and meals for students.
