- 2. What is Smartphone A Smartphone is a mobile phone with highly advanced features. A typical Smartphone has a high- resolution touch screen display, Wi-Fi connectivity, Web browsing capabilities, and the ability to accept sophisticated applications. The majority of these devices run on “mobile operating system”

- 4. 2000 Symbian becomes the first modern mobile OS on a smartphone with the launch of the Ericsson R380.
- 5. 2007 Apple iPhone with iOS is introduced as an iPhone, "mobile phone" and "internet communicator
- 6. 2008 OHA releases Android 1.0 with the HTC Dream as the first Android phone.

- 8. In my last four slides I mentioned the history of Smartphone's operating system. Now I want to show the position of those operating system.

- 10. ANDROID Android is an operating system based on the Linux kernel, and designed primarily for touch screen mobile devices such as smartphones and tablet computers. Initially developed by Android, Inc., which Google backed financially and later bought in 2005, Android was unveiled in 2007 along with the founding of the Open Handset.

- 12. iOS (previously iPhone OS) is a mobile operating system developed and distributed by Apple Inc. Originally unveiled in 2007 for the iPhone, it has been extended to support other Apple devices such as the iPod Touch (September 2007), iPad (January 2010), iPad Mini (November 2012) and second- generation Apple TV (September 2010)

- 14. Windows phone Windows Mobile is an operating system supported by Microsoft. Windows Mobile is based on Microsoft Win32 API. Windows mobile works on some devices including Pocket PC, smartphones, communicators. Most versions of Windows Mobile have a set of standard features such as multitasking and the ability to navigate a file system and it comes bundled with a set of applications.
- 15. Other OS Blackberry :- It is closed source and proprietary. BlackBerry 10 was the next generation platform for BlackBerry smartphones and tablets. One OS was planned for both Blackberry smartphones and tablets going forward.
