ACAN STAR encourages and supports youth in making
positive changes to our community, further expanding
Chinese Americans¡¯ impact on society. The STAR program
is constructed with the view that the most effective way to
foster students¡¯ abilities to positively influence their
communities is through community service projects, both
large and small.

? ACAN STAR Service Award
ACAN STAR Advisor team will select and present STAR Gold, Silver, and Bronze
awards to team or individual who accomplished their missions. Awards will be
given once per school year. Individual who applies for ACAN STAR service award
needs to be ACAN member or ACAN family member.

17. What is ACAN STAR
? ACAN STAR is a project-based program for students
from 6th to 12th grade. Participants are required to
submit a proposal with a self-initiated project,
recruit other student participants within the ACAN
network as necessary to execute the plan.
? The objective is to support youth to develop
leadership, mentorship, team working, and creative
thinking skills. Once approved, the projects will be
published on the ACAN STAR website, and adult
mentors/advisors, if available, could be assigned to
support as needed.
? In principle, each STAR project will be led by the
student for whom the application is approved.
