Introduction
Adsorption is a process of attracting molecules from
bulk fluid to a solid surface. The best and most famous
of such solids known is activated carbon. Activated
carbon (AC) is one of the best discoveries that man
ever made in technological advancement. Some
regards AC as natures gift to man with its use in air,
water and food purification, and in the field of medicine
which are among mans essential commodities. It can
also be used for treating industrial effluents, oil spills
and an inexhaustible list of areas of application. Since
its use cuts across almost every aspects of life, it is
imperative for people to be informed on potentials in
AC applications.
As a researcher in AC field, do you wish to know
the current trend research areas and be at the
cutting edge of your profession?
As an entrepreneur or producer of AC, do you
wish to find out what consumers or the world
wants from AC producers cum modern and easier
ways of producing AC in large quantity?
As a potential consumer of AC, do wish to find out
the numerous challenges or problems that AC can
solve and the best and latest ways of using it?
As researcher and postgraduate student, are you
interested to know the current research trends and
future directions in the field?
These and a lot of other information would be made
clear in this workshop. Come and join us, dont be left
out.
Workshop outcomes
At the end of this workshop, participants should be
able to:
Master the fundamental principles of adsorption
and its applications.
Master the fundamentals of AC production by
conventional and microwave methods.
Master modern and easier ways of producing
large quantity of AC.
 Understand the chemistry and engineering
activity that goes on when AC is solving your
problem.
Improve their ability to select the right type of AC
for any given challenge/problem/application.
Understand AC regeneration techniques and to
be able to use your AC as many times as you
wish before discarding it.
Aim of the Workshop
The workshop will expose or reveal to the participants
that condensed secret of AC that has been withheld by
some few individuals in the world. Comprehensive
information on AC from laboratory research, industrial
production and its applicability by consumers will be
unveiled. The workshop will prove to you that good AC
has never failed in its application unless if there was
something wrong with its production or usage.
Targeted Audience
The workshop is designed for Researchers, Managers,
Engineers, Technicians, Chemists and the general
populace who wants to have basic and in-depth
understanding on AC, its production, working
mechanism, areas of applications and regeneration.
Topics of the workshop
 Principles of adsorption process.
Application of adsorption process in gas and
liquid phases (modern methods).
 Modeling of adsorption process-Batch and
continuous systems.
 The world of AC.
Good AC: starting materials, classification and
properties.
 Methods of production: conventional and
microwave heating methods.
In-depth knowledge of AC through its
characterization.
 Life cycle/Reusability/Regeneration of AC for
adsorption.
The past, current research trends and future
directions in the field.
Workshop Fee:
(Covers course material, refreshment including lunch and
Certificate of Attendance.)
Normal : MYR 799.00 per person
Group : MYR 699.00 per person
(Minimum 3 participants from the same institution)
