Adding ly to words
ly is a suffix- added to the ends of
words.
L.O. Use the change y to I rule for
spelling.

The adjective (describing
word) becomes an adverb
(tells you more about the verb)
e.g.
The tortoise walked very
slowly.
Most adjectives add ly to
make an adverb.
If the adjective ends in y change the y
to I before adding ly
Examples.
Secret + ly = secretly
Sleepy + ly = sleepily.
