This document provides an overview of polynomials:
- Polynomials are algebraic expressions that are combinations of variables and constants using addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. They are the simplest algebraic expressions.
- A term is a number, variable, or product/quotient of variables raised to powers. Polynomials are written with terms in descending powers of the variable from left to right.
- Polynomials are named based on the number of terms, such as monomial (one term), binomial (two terms), and trinomial (three terms).
- The degree of a term is its highest exponent, and the degree of a polynomial is the highest degree of any term.
