Automotive Engineering Show 2013  Post Show Report
The 7th
edition of the event saw some of the best and most respected global names in
Technology provider as exhibitors in the exhibition.
There were 120 participants on the floor, who showcased their processes, systems and
technology solutions to some 3520 serious, focussed individuals from the industry.
The exhibition was inaugurated by Mr. V.K. Shanmugam, Vice President  Operations
TVS Motor Company.
About 73% of the visitors visited were top & middle management (CEO /COO / VP - level
executives). The visitor community comprised of OEM, third-party manufacturers,
Component manufacturers from Tier 1, Tier 2 and Tier 3 manufacturers. Managers from
Planning, Quality, Design dept., Production, Capital purchase, Procurement, New Projects
heads, Maintenance, R & D dept. heads, Engineers from the assembly line, Technology
managers etc.
Besides the 3-day exhibition, there were series of seminars presented by Indo MIM, Faro,
Prism Surface Coating, Kistler, PTC, Henkel, LDRA, Accurate & Renishaw. Alongwith a theme
seminar was held on Smart Sensing & Real Time Communication Protocols in which
companies like Bechhoff, CLPA, Schmersal, IFM Electronics, Ethernet Powerlink &
Standardisation Group & Banner Engineering gave a presentation on the theme topic.
There were, on average, 30 attendees in each session. Proceedings will be put up on the
event website.
On the second day of the event, there was a special Seminar on Sustaining Good
Performance with Grassroot Innovation An interactive session featuring practicing
professionals from leading Automotive plants and global technology providers spoke out
important lessons that can help and expand the spirit of innovation in the management of
day to day manufacturing operations.
The panelist were Mr. Subu Nagasubramony, Managing Director (Visteon Automotive
Systems India Pvt Ltd), Mr. R. Vasu, Vice President-QHSE (Brakes India Ltd.), Dr.
Ethirajan Bhaskaran, Deputy Director (Department of Industries & Commerce), Prof.
Nilesh J. Vasa, H.O.D. Engineering Design, (Indian Institute of Technology, Madras),
Mr. Dilip Sawhney, Vice President (Automation Industry Association) & Country Head
(Rockwell Automation India Pvt Ltd), Mr. P. V. Sivaram, Executive Council Member
(Automation Industry Association) & Managing Director (B & R Automation).
The case winners were from vehicle and component manufacturers like Ford India, Ashok
Leyand, Tata Motors, Mahindra Vehicle Manufacturers, Fenner India, Greaves Cotton, Bosch,
Mahindra & Mahindra, Brakes India, Visteon Automotive systems, etc.
The case studies were received from various top vehicle and auto-component manufacturing
organizations, and selection is being done by a highly qualified and passionate team of AIA
members headed by Mr. Anup Wadhwa, Director AIA.
The exhibition was supported by NATRIP, ARAI, AIA, ICAT & NSIC alongwith Automotive
Systems, the quarterly publication which focus exclusively on the technology chain involved
in the manufacturing of automobiles and their components.
Overall exhibitor satisfaction :
With Quality  very happy with the decision-making level that attended the show
and the infrastructure provided
Quantity  some exhibitors showed disappointment, expected some more numbers
Almost all participants have expressed desire to repeat their participation in a bigger way in
the next edition, scheduled for Pune in April 2014.
