Affandi (1907–1990) was a prominent Indonesian artist known for his pure expressionism and unique painting techniques, including squeezing paint directly from the tube onto canvas. He had a diverse family life, with two wives and children who are also artists, and he created a museum in Yogyakarta to showcase his 250 paintings, although it faces challenges due to funding and environmental conditions. Affandi passed away on May 23, 1990, expressing a desire for simplicity in life and death, and is buried in his museum complex.
