1) AIESEC began in the 1930s as an organization to facilitate international internships for students and grew out of World War 2. 2) In 1946-1948, AIESEC was formally established and held its first congress in 1949 in Stockholm with 89 participants from France, Belgium, Finland, Netherlands, Denmark, Norway and Sweden. 3) Over the decades, AIESEC expanded globally with new members in America and Africa in the 1950s, the establishment of committees in over 100 countries today, and over 1 million alumni members worldwide.
