- 1. Al Jacobs’ Coasters Vocal competition The legendary Al Jacobs will be holding AUDITIONS FOR SINGERS & MUSICANS for a nationwide tour for Al Jacobs “Coasters. About Al Jacobs Born Adolf Jacobs, April 15, 1939 in Pineland, Sabine County, East Texas (data confirmed). Moved to Oakland and played with the Medallions on Essex and wrote "I Know" for them in 1955. Was spotted by Gardner in late 1955 and regarded a regular Coasters member until his departure. Recorded his own "Walkin�& Whistlin� for Class Records in " L.A. in 1959. Jacobs never settled in New York, but worked with Johnny "Guitar" Watson, Larry Williams, and Little Richard in Hollywood during the � and made jazz records for Kent Harris in the � (Harris was the 60s 70s originator of "Clothes Line", the song that stood model for the Coasters� "Shoppin�For Clothes"). Led his own band in California in later years (and is the only original Coaster who hasn� tried his luck with new Coasters - t although his orchestra backed the Jones-Guy Coasters a couple of times during the late '80s-early '90s and recentaly has joined the Leon Hughes group). Al Jacobs, the sole surviving member of the legendary Hall of Fame Doo-Wop group “The Coasters” will be holding a vocal competition in search of new talent. The competition, which will be held in Los Angeles, CA, will determine who will become the next generation “Coasters”.

Al Jacobs’ Coasters Vocal Competition: Time & Place: rd th The first audition will be held Saturday March 23 and Sunday March 24 2013 at the “Rack N’ Shack” located at 2516 Jefferson Blvd. in Los Angeles, California. th st The second audition will be held the following weekend, Saturday March 30 and Sunday March 31 2013 at “Henri’s Restaurant” located at 21601 Sherman Way Avenue in Canoga Park, California. Judges: Al Jacobs - from “The Coasters”. Rhona Bennett - from “EnVogue”. Allen Frey – from “New Birth”. to be announced Applications for the competition will be accepted beginning December 1st 2012 through January of 2013. All applicants must be at least 25 years of age and have prior experience in the entertainment industry. The ability to travel is a must.
