Presented at the ALIA Vic NLS8 wrap event in Melbourne on Thursday 10th August 2017 at the Bargoonga Nganjin North Fitzroy Library, by Steven Chang and Shannon Parsons. This presentation provided a committee perspective reflecting back on the 8th New Librarians' Symposium 2017 experience in Canberra. This included a discussion on the benefits and limitations of being involved in LIS committees.

- 17. Gaining experience you cant get in your day job or study First jobs or changing jobs: We were looking for more experience in XYZ well, now you have it! Choose where you want to build your experience Building a broader view of the industry outside the doors of your workplace
