People have difficulty understanding that others have less knowledge than themselves and underestimate the difficulty of communicating complex ideas to others with less expertise. This "curse of knowledge" causes experts and those with greater knowledge to fail to impart knowledge to others effectively because they take for granted information that seems obvious to them may not be obvious to those with less knowledge. Overcoming this curse requires experts to consciously put themselves in the shoes of their less knowledgeable audience and see things from their perspective to better communicate complex ideas.
