This document provides a comparative study of Romanticism and Transcendentalism. Romanticism was an 18th-19th century artistic and intellectual movement that emphasized emotion and individual subjectivity over reason. Transcendentalism, which emerged in the 1830s-1860s, was a philosophy that believed knowledge comes from inner experience and intuition rather than religious dogma. Both movements opposed Calvinism and strict traditions, found inspiration in nature, and encouraged individualism. However, Romanticism focused more on the individual while Transcendentalism believed in an indwelling divinity and rejected religious structures in favor of a personal understanding of God.

4 . Romanticism was an artistic and intellectual movement which took place in Europe between the late eighteenth and mid-nineteenth centuries. Understood broadly as a break from the guiding principles of the Enlightenment which established reason as the foundation of all knowledge the Romantic Movement emphasised the importance of emotional sensitivity and individual subjectivity. For the Romantics, imagination, rather than reason, was the most important creative faculty.
5 What is trandentalism? Marriam-Webster defines transcendentalism as a philosophy that emphasizes the a priori conditions of knowledge and experience or the unknowable character of ultimate reality or that emphasizes the transcendent as the fundamental reality.
Similarity between Romanticism &Transdentalism opposed to calvnism Born as a reaction to strict tradition, laws and religious rules of that time inspired by nature as writing of authors seem to tie nature in many of their works. Encourage individualism rather than to obey some one. The both movement preaches that belief of following of your deepest emotions it may lead to personal growth of that person.
What is The main difference between Romanticism &Transdentalism Begining Romanticism movement was born earlier in the 18th century and it was at final stage at the year 1840. The beginning of the Transcendentalism movement was started around 1834 and lasted till 1860 Reacted against Romanticism was the reaction against outward appearances and objective reasoning. Transcendentalism was the reaction against religious traditions, beliefs and dogma which overpowered humans. Basic idea Romanticism was not much dedicated with the ideas of God and hence religion was meant to be worked on a personal inner basis resulting in good or evil but not blindly following the same preconceived structure of religion. Transcendentalism was fully based on religionThey rejected religious dogma but believed that Gods presence is everywhere and hence God can found by intuition
