. Romanticism was an artistic and intellectual movement which took place in Europe between the late
eighteenth and mid-nineteenth centuries. Understood broadly as a break from the guiding principles of the
Enlightenment  which established reason as the foundation of all knowledge  the Romantic Movement
emphasised the importance of emotional sensitivity and individual subjectivity. For the Romantics,
imagination, rather than reason, was the most important creative faculty.

What is trandentalism?
Marriam-Webster defines transcendentalism as a philosophy that emphasizes the a priori
conditions of knowledge and experience or the unknowable character of ultimate reality or
that emphasizes the transcendent as the fundamental reality.
Similarity between Romanticism &Transdentalism
 opposed to calvnism
 Born as a reaction to strict tradition, laws and religious rules of that time
 inspired by nature as writing of authors seem to tie nature in many of their works.
Encourage individualism rather than to obey some one.
 The both movement preaches that belief of following of your deepest emotions it may lead to
personal growth of that person.

Begining Romanticism movement was
born earlier in the 18th century
and it was at final stage at the
year 1840.

was started around 1834 and
lasted till 1860

against outward appearances and
objective reasoning.
Transcendentalism was the
reaction against religious
traditions, beliefs and dogma
which overpowered humans.
Basic idea Romanticism was not much
dedicated with the ideas of God
and hence religion was meant to
be worked on a personal inner
basis resulting in good or evil but
not blindly following the same
preconceived structure of religion.
