Toastmaster's members have the opportunity to enhance their effective
communication skills, leadership abilities and professionalism as active
participants in this club. During meetings and discussions, members are
expected to contribute, demonstrate active listening skills and support one
another. Members are supported in the development of their skills in writing
presentations, public speaking and giving and receiving constructive feedback.
Members are encouraged to participate in club projects and to take an active role
in leading the club. Toastmasters International (TI) is a nonprofit educational
organization that operates clubs worldwide for the purpose of helping members
improve their communication, public speaking and leadership skills. The minimum
number of participation hours the student must complete are as follows: for 2

2015 - 2016 Mission Zero Volunteer
Sustainability
The Mission Zero Volunteer will assist the Office for Sustainability (OfS) with the
promotion of the sustainability initiatives and the implementation of the community
engagement events at Sheridan. The volunteer will be involved in a variety of
outreach activities during the new student orientation week and throughout the
semester. This includes guiding students, faculty and staff to properly sort their
waste on campus and informing people about the Mission Zero initiative. The
volunteer will also provide various types of support to our community events, such
as creating/posting flyers, participating in tree planting and the Repair Cafeacute;,
among others. Collaborating as a team, the volunteer will have a lot of
opportunities to interact with the public on campus. He/she will base mainly in
his/her own campus and may be asked to work in the other Sheridan campuses to
provide the support as needed. The volunteer will be required to attend a training
session in late August/mid-September.
The minimum participation hours is 12.

Sheridan students can continue to pursue their learning, professional development, and personal growth outside of the classroom by participating in co-curricular record
(CCR) activities.
This CCR is an official institutional document that formally recognizes the students participation in co-curricular activities. Academic credit is not provided for participating in
these activities.
Activities recognized by Sheridan as co-curricular in nature include student life programs, student leadership development programs, community engagement activities,
athletic programs, research projects and team projects.
The co-curricular activities listed in Sheridans CCR Opportunities Directory must meet the following criteria:
 Provide students with meaningful learning experiences that support personal and professional growth and development;
 Have an identifiable link to Sheridan College (all activities must be led by Sheridan staff members and validated by Sheridan staff members);
 Students do not receive any academic credit for their participation; and
 The minimum participation time for any CCR activity cannot be less than 10 hours.
To ensure that the activities listed in Sheridans CCR Opportunities Directory meet the programs criteria, all activities have been reviewed, evaluated and approved by
Sheridans CCR program administrators.
