The word Ghana means the warrior king is what
Soninke (Ghana citizen) used to call their king. The
Soninke people used a different word when referring to
their empire. They called it "Wagadu.
Most of the people living in the empire were farmers.
They didn't own the land. Each family was allotted a
portion of the land by the local village leader.

This dude was a
puissant prince and
founder of the Mali
Empire. The famous
Malian ruler Mansa
Musa who made a
pilgrimage to Mecca
was his grandnephew.
