Tim Burton was born in 1958 in Burbank, California. He had a quirky and imaginative childhood. After high school, he won a Disney scholarship and worked on two productions before meeting his wife, actress Helena Bonham Carter, on the set of Mars Attacks in 1996. Some of Burton's most famous films include Beetlejuice, Batman, Edward Scissorhands, Batman Returns, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Corpse Bride, and Sweeney Todd. His 2010 film Alice in Wonderland was an adaptation of the Lewis Carroll novels that combined live action, motion capture, and stop motion techniques.
