CAREER EXPERIENCE
Instructor/Trainer Oct 07 – Nov 10
ï‚· Managed the joint asset management engineering IT software.
ï‚· Teaching General Mechanical Principles and fault finding skills to various personnel within
the Armed Forces. Including the internal working parts of the engine and the correct use of
tools ensuring Health & Safety practices were adhered to at all times.
ï‚· Teaching students on the armoured ridgeback vehicles, the internal mechanical, hydraulic
and electronic systems including the methods used to fault find on the Electronic Counter
Measures (ECM) fitted to the vehicles. Faults found on the ECM would be investigated, I
would check the power supplies, ensuring synchronisation was carried out in the correct
sequence, failing that then the equipment would be moved to the workshop for a more in
depth interrogation using specialised equipment and then repaired and retested.
Mechanical Transport Manager. (Afghan/Iraq) Nov 10 – Jul 12
ï‚· Running the Regimental inspections and servicing bay, monitoring and forecasting the
maintenance schedules were adhered to ensuring maximum vehicle availability at all times.
This also entailed snap inspections of other vehicles, ensuring faults had been fixed,
checking the quality of workmanship, physically getting on and under the vehicles to ensure
the correct work had been completed to a satisfactory level.
ï‚· Attend all Managerial conferences and give full comprehensive briefings on all pending
vehicle maintenance and equipment care events, ensuring all internal agencies are able to
meet timetables where appropriate.
ï‚· Working with Petroleum Oils & Lubricants, over 100,000 ltrs of fuel on account, responsible

which in this case was engine driven.
ï‚· Used to working in enclosed environments in often hostile conditions.
ï‚· Operating, maintaining and fault finding on Heavy lifting apparatus, cranes, enhanced
palletised load system (EPLS) and forklift truck. On many occasions while on Operations
we would have to fault find on the hydraulic systems on various heavy lift equipment’s to
keep it operational and due to the lack of spares we would often have to improvise by using
parts from different lifting platforms. Work completed would vary from renewing the oil to
replacing seals, hoses and then bleeding the hydraulic system of air.
Supply/Logistics Manager Jul 12 – Nov 14
ï‚· Responsible for equipment procurement, ensuring additional mechanical and electrical
spares were available prior to deploying on Operations. The parts would range from
something as small as a lightbulb to new engines and circuit boards for generators.
ï‚· Responsible for all the PAT testing within the Offices and accommodation blocks.
3
ï‚· Equipment care played a large part of my day to day job, inspecting equipment ensuring it
had not been neglected and was in good working order. This also entailed monthly
refresher training for over 100 personnel on various different equipment types.
 The Squadron’s safety manager responsible for identifying hazards, assessing risk,
implementing control measures, monitoring and controlling safety in the workplace and
garages for over 120 personnel. Responsible for the archiving and reporting of accidents
and near misses.
