This thesis examines models for designing future aircraft networks and schedules using small aircraft. It presents four optimization models: 1) a frequency assignment model for scheduled flights that determines optimal flight frequencies; 2) a frequency assignment model for on-demand flights; 3) a rough fleet assignment model that assigns aircraft types to routes; and 4) a time-table model that generates flight schedules within time windows. The models are implemented using data from the US and decomposition algorithms. The results are analyzed to compare potential new networks and schedules with existing airline operations under different scenarios.
