This document proposes a scheme for analyzing YouTube videos that applies media aesthetics as an analytical tool. The scheme involves collecting general video information, conducting an aesthetically-applied analysis of elements like lighting, color, filters, and motion, performing a content analysis, and analyzing recipient responses. It presents a classification system as the basis for an integrated research approach, dividing the aesthetic fields into first (lighting, color), two-dimensional (forces inside the screen, portraits), three-dimensional (filters, lines/lettering, frames), four-dimensional (timing, motion), and five-dimensional (sound, music). The document argues that YouTube videos serve as both communication and aesthetic systems.
