INTRODUCTION
This assignment evaluates oral presentation and speaking skills. It also evaluates the student’s ability to
research information and present an effective presentation of his/her research. In addition, being a group
assignment, each student will experience cooperating and collaborating with other peers as a team with a
common goal.
Referencing:
All persons, books and other sources of information are to be referenced in accordance with the
APA Style.
OBJECTIVES OF ORAL PRESENTATION
The objectives of this project are as follows:
• To provide students with basic oral presentation skills.
LEARNING OUTCOMES OF THIS REPORT
The learning outcomes of this assignment are:
• Ability to deliver an effective presentation by applying the elements of an effective speaker in four
main areas namely voice projection, body language, content as well as organization of the content.
• Analyse and listen to conversations in various interactive, social, professional and academic
situations.
• Identify the main idea and gist from lectures and talks.
2. TASKS - METHODOLOGY
Your task is as follow: Research and deliver an oral presentation describing a future city or future
plans of an existing city. Your presentation should include the following areas.
1. Security
2. Water and waste management
3. Tourism and Hospitality
4. Transport, Energy Management and Disaster Relief
5. Green Building
SUBMISSION REQUIREMENT
Presentation is composed of 5/ 6 people per group to submit their works in a creative manner by
the 22nd
/ 23rd
June 2015 (Week 12). Each group will be required to
produce the presentation for a duration of 20 to 25 minutes.
ASSESSMENT CRITERIA
The assessment for this assignment will be based on:
• Your demonstrated understanding of the brief.
• The content of the write-up—strength of central idea and relevance to the question.
• Clear and coherent organization of ideas and argument.
• Ability to use scholarly references to support arguments and ideas.
• Grammar and mechanics.
