The Weiner Werkstatte was a school dedicated to technical craftsmanship that rejected the curvilinear style of the Secessionists and focused on geometric forms and integrating type and color. Austrian Expressionism was not a true style or movement but focused on expressing feelings through asymmetry, unconventional lines, exaggerated forms, and shocking colors. Sachplaket posters rejected the complexity of Art Nouveau in favor of simplified geometric designs and integrated type and imagery.
