Realist artists in the late 19th century sought to portray everyday people and scenes in their works rather than exceptional or idealized subjects. Some examples include Thomas Eakins' "A May Morning in the Park" depicting ordinary people in a city park, Childe Hassam's "A New York Blizzard" showing common people enduring a snowstorm, and Winslow Homer's "Artists Sketching in the White Mountains" portraying average artists at work outdoors.
