6. AIM: Utilize words and storytelling in order to illustrate the importance of vision when
crafting a story, or career.
Situation:
Many great musicians were asked to change their lyrics, while playing the Ed Sullivan
show. Most did, some did not. When asked why, it's just a word, Jim responded, "What's
your name? Mind if I just call you Asshole instead?
Challenge: (20 mins)
Our words are powerful, and when combined in unison, can tell a story that transports
audiences and moves emotion.
Game: (3 x 5 mins)
¡ñ Based on the slide image shown, the first person will begin our story with a word.
The person to their left will follow with the next word, and so on until we finish the
story back with the first person.
9. Don't worry about the details, just
keep your sights set on the goal.
10. Don't worry about the details, just
keep your sights set on the goal.
"Just like great songs paint a rich
image for the listener, great vision
does the same for the dreamer.
11. THE MIND's EYE
GROUP DISCUSSION:
Have you ever used your mind's
eye to visualize an outcome?
#ArtistEngage
12. SETTING YOUR VISION
WHAT IS THE BEST THAT WE CAN POSSIBLY
BE?
#ArtistEngage
What do we
mean by that?
What can you
do for us?
how do we
know you are
good?
How do we know that is good enough?
WHAT WILL MAKE US BETTER?
How do we explain this in 30s?
13. CRAFTING YOUR VISION
GROUP DISCUSSION:
HOW DO YOU GET OTHERS TO FOLLOW
ALONG IN YOUR VISION?
#ArtistEngage
14. Action Initiation Model:
AIM:
¡ñ What is the purpose, goal that you are trying to accomplish. (I will do "A" in
order to achieve "B.")
Situation:
¡ñ 3-5 Bullet points that describe the situation and challenge.
Plan:
¡ñ 5-10 Bullet points of action steps you plan to take to accomplish this goal.
15. AIM:
¡ñ To develop a workshop for artists in order to educate and motivate evolution through dialogue
and digital tools.
Situation:
¡ñ The game has changed and a new digital culture is emerging.
¡ñ Technology has changed the way people consume content and make decisions.
¡ñ Technology has also democratized the making of art through equal and lower barrier access
¡ñ Independent artists today struggle within the current environment
¡ñ And are seeking strategies, tactics and tools to better navigate the environment
Plan:
¡ñ Develop a community workshop series to initiate conversions and begin to build rapport between
local artists
¡ñ Through professionally led group conversations, uncover insights that artists can use to develop
strategies for development and sharing of content
¡ñ Provide tactics and tools for artists to use in their daily practices
¡ñ Document the process and begin developing a collaborative platform to encourage the sharing
of content
¡ñ Measure the impact and report back to all involved
