This 3D work made of construction paper and safety pins was inspired by El Anatsui's "River Crossing". Safety pins were used to hold together squares of construction paper because they are a raw metallic material. The piece is positioned layered against the wall rather than laying flat to resemble Anatsui's draped sculptural style.

Construction paper, safety pins
3 dimensional
I made this work to resemble El Anatsui work ¡°river crossing¡± by using squares of
construction paper and using safety pins to hold them together. I decided to use
safety pins because it¡¯s a raw object and it¡¯s made out of metal. While posting my
work on the wall I position it so that it could be layered. The work is not laying flat
on the wall.
