Thethree‐dayevent,whichwasthemed“AdvancesinDrugandLifeSciencesR&Dthrough LaboratoryTechnology,"featuredscientificpresentationsby29experts,includingkeynote addressesbyProfessorDeanHo,Ph.D.,theSLASEndowedFellowfromtheUniversityof CaliforniaLosAngelesSchoolofDentistrywhosharedinsighton“Diamond‐BasedPlatformsfor Nanomedicine;”andMahendraRao,M.D.,Ph.D.,oftheU.S.NationalInstitutesofHealthCenter forRegenerativeMedicinewhodiscussedissuesregardingresearchusing“PrimaryandPSC DerivedCellsforScreening.” Scientificpresentationswereorganizedwithinthreetopicalareas:1)DrugDiscovery Technologies;2)FromScreeningtoTherapy;and3)StemCellsinDrugDiscovery.TheClosing SessiononThursday,June21,showcasedthewinnerandthreefinalistsoftheprestigious2012 SLASInnovationAward.Thewinnerofthis$10,000annualaward,DanDongeunHuh,Ph.D.,of theWyssInstituteforBiologicallyInspiredEngineeringatHarvardUniversity,Cambridge, Massachusetts,USA,sharedhiswinningpresentationentitled“AHumanBreathingLung‐on‐a‐ ChipforDrugScreeningandNanotoxicologyApplications.” Threehighly‐ratedshortcoursesofferedattendeescomprehensiveinformationandadviceon1) Label‐Free/BiophysicsMethodsforScreening;2)HighContentScreening:Instrumentation, AssayDevelopment,Screening,ImagingandDataAnalysis;and3)WhatEditorsWant:AnAuthor GuidetoPublishinginScientificJournals. Theexhibitionallowedattendeestoexplorenewlaboratorytechnologiesandservicesfrom41 differentmultinationalcompanies,while22posterpresentationsillustratedthediversityof researchinitiativesbeingexploredthroughouttheregion. ‐more‐
