This diagram shows the pathway of sound from the cochlea to the auditory cortex in the brain. Sound enters the cochlea and travels along the auditory nerve to the cochlear nucleus. It then passes through the superior olivary nucleus, lateral lemniscus, and inferior colliculus before reaching the medial geniculate nucleus and ultimately the primary auditory cortex in both left and right hemispheres of the brain.
