The Object
For your chance at the grand prize you must be the
closest to guessing Baby Vash’s (AKA: Alvey Baby #2)
gender and date/time or birth. In order to help you
in this quest we have completed a series of tests
designed to aid you in your guesstimate! Included
beneath answers are the results we got for Reagan
(our daughter).

Gender Tests
Boy or Girl???
As follows are explanations of a series of tests for gender and their results.
As you may know, we refer to Half Pint/The Force as a ‘he.’ Take that for
what you want, but we have no prior knowledge of the gender of the baby!
We are looking forward to being surprised! We just didn’t want to refer to the
baby as an ‘it.’

Wedding Ring Test
A wedding ring is placed on a thread and dangled
over the pregnant belly.
Boy: The ring will swing back and forth like a
pendulum.
Girl: The ring will swing in a circular motion.

Chinese Calendar
Legend says that the Chinese gender charts are
over 700 years old and 90% correct if used
properly. The gender of the baby is predicted
based on the month of conception and the
mother’s birthday- both expressed as dates in the
Chinese lunar calendar.
Britt was 26 in the lunar calendar and conceived in
December in the lunar calendar.

Even and Odd Theory
Legend has it that the Mayans determined a baby’s
sex by looking at the mother’s age at conception
and the year of conception.
Mother’s Age: 25
Year of Conception: 2014
Boy: One value is even and the other is odd
Girl: Both values are even or odd.

Blemish Theory
Boy: Boys give to their mother’s good looks,
making them glow.
Girl: Girls take away from their mother’s good
looks, yielding acne, oily skin, and wrinkles.

Baking Soda Test
Baking soda is put in a cup and then urine is added
to it.
Boy: It will Fizz like soda pop.
Girl: No fizzle.

The Cabbage Test
Red cabbage is cut into chunks and boiled for 10
minutes. In a cup 1 part cabbage water and 1 part
urine are mixed.
Boy: Water turns pink or red.
Girl: Water stays purple

Drano Test
Two tablespoons Drano is added with 2-3 oz. of
urine.
Boy: Mixture will turn brown in 10 seconds.
Girl: Mixture will not darken or brown in 10-15
seconds.

Sleep Position Theory
Boy: The mother tends to sleep on her left
side.
Girl: The mother tends to sleep on her Right
side.

High Heartbeat Theory
Boy: Heartbeat is Under 140 beats per a
minute.
Girl: Heartbeat is over 140 beats per a minute.

Morning Sickness Theory
Boy: Little to no morning sickness.
Girl: A lot of morning sickness.

Food Craving Theory
Boy: Mother craves Savory food, such as salty
snacks.
Girl: Mother craves sweet things, such as
deserts.

First Child’s Hairline
A Native American tradition of gender prediction based on
first child's hairline.
If the hair at neck is straight across, second child will be same
gender as first. If hair at neck comes to a point, gender will
be opposite of first.

Thigh Creases on First Child
I got a pedicure one day and Reagan was with me. She
said that if a baby has only one crease in his/her thighs
then the next child will be a boy. If there are two creases
in the thigh, it will be a boy.

Bump Theory
Boy: The bump sits low and narrow; all in the
front, like a basketball.
Girl: The bump sits high and wide.

Boy: 4
Girl: 9

How does Vash compare to
Reagan’s Results?
Reagan had 3 Boy Results and 8 Girl Results compared to Vash’s 4 Boy Results
and 9 Girl Results.
7 of the test results were the same between Reagan and Vash and 4 were different.
I gained 63 lbs with Reagan and have gained 10 lbs at 36 weeks with Vash. So unless I
gain 53 lbs in the rest of this pregnancy that is different.
This Pregnancy has been harder than with Reagan; more blood tests, more sickness,
vertigo, and more discomfort.

Due Date Estimation
The due date for the baby is October 12th, 2014
Last ultrasound (20 weeks) showed a due date of October 10th, 2014 (2 Days early)
Reagan was due 6/6/13 and born on 6/2/13. She was four days early!
Average Gestation is 40 weeks (June 6th), though a full-term pregnancy is between 37 (May 16th) and 42
(June 20th) weeks.
Most first pregnancies will either come early or late, not on time.
37 weeks - 5.69% 38 weeks - 14.36% 39 weeks - 21.56%
40 weeks - 32.44% 41 weeks - 14.65% 42 weeks - 3.40% 43+ weeks - 0.13%
