Bill Gates deals with the management of information in this book, Business @ The Speed Of Thought In a Financial Services company systems must be in place to handle not just domestic business, but global business as well. 6. Domestic Systems Systems are needed to Clear and Settle Purchases & Sales of Stocks, Bonds, Mutual Funds and other Instruments. Additional systems must be in place to handle Corporate Actions and Lending activity. Funds Transfer Systems are need to to move funds domestically. Domestic Systems If a Customer Sold Shares of Microsoft Holdings and requested that the proceeds be wired to them, The Fund Transfer System would come into play If there was a stock split on those same Microsoft shares, a Corporate Actions system would come into play for notification of the new share distribution. 04/11/10 BDPA Conference 2000 - Washington DC
8. Global Systems Systems are needed for the purchase and sale of Foreign Securities as well as their Foreign Currency equivalents. Global Systems If a Customer purchased a UK Security a system would house the position for that security once purchased as well as Pay for that Security in GBP by debiting a GBP currency account A Corporate Action event may take place on that security allowing for the purchase of Share Rights for a specific time period based on account holding. 04/11/10 BDPA Conference 2000 - Washington DC
10. Email Systems Systems are needed for Email Communications in the Domestic and Global environments. Companies need to communicate internally with departments (Intranet) and externally with clients (Internet) Request for meetings and meeting rooms can be made via Email and Calendar systems. 04/11/10 BDPA Conference 2000 - Washington DC

Customer Dialup/Web Systems A Customer can input on their Client Software Purchase of shares of Microsoft as well as a Sale of a UK Security and receive confirmation that their order was received. When the Customer does not see their order finalized they can place an online inquiry and be assigned a tracking number for followup with the specific area. 14. Training Computer Based Training Systems should be in place for Internal Training of Department Staff as well as External Training for Customer on New Product Offerings. Training When a new System is developed for Customer Order Entry for Financial Instruments the Customer can order the CBT Course providing Simulated Training on the new Order Entry Software Package.
