Dear Dr. Chambers,
I am writing this reference letter at the request of Mr. Noah Bankston in support of his
application for a position as a Strategic Planner.
I met Noah in Wilhelmshaven, Germany this summer while I was teaching a study-
abroad course in Fluid Mechanics. Noah and several other Media students shared the
same living arrangements as the engineering students and we participated in joint field
trips. Other than having different classes, we were essentially all the same family.
Noah helped a lot of us with software and Wi-Fi issues and certainly saved us a lot of
time because he had figured out the system a week before we arrived. He currently
provides similar technical support here at TTU. He also participated on several self-
arranged trips on the weekends. Most weekends we (the study-abroad team) would
travel somewhere to experience the culture in which we were immersed.
While we were all in Germany, Noah balanced his studies and social activities well
neither seemed to suffer and he achieved the cultural immersion goal of study-abroad
as well as meeting his academic commitments.
I have reviewed his resume (and advertising design portfolio) and am impressed with
his accomplishments so far. The topic is far outside my professional activities, but the
work is genuine and adheres to my perception of what Media planning should
encompass. He has prior work experience in the profession so should be able to
leverage those experiences into this position.
My assessment, based on the job description, prior experience reflected in the resume,
and my observations of him for a brief period in Germany in the context of the bullet
list in the job description, is that he would be an effective strategic planner.
Sincerely,
Theodore G. Cleveland, Ph.D., P.E.
