Introduction
 Agricultural Information interacts with and
influences agricultural productivity in a variety
of ways.
 It can help inform decisions regarding land,
labour, livestock, capital and management.
 Agricultural productivity can arguably be
improved by relevant, reliable and useful
information and knowledge.
Objectives
Basic Agricultural Information of Pirganj
Upazila will help us to know the climate,
cropping system, land use pattern etc. of
this upazila.
Need based agricultural operations for this
specific upazila will be easier.
Geographic Location Of Pirganj
 Forests Area
 Not Evenly Distributed, e.g. Sal Forest Of Choitrokol Union
 Land Not Available For Cultivation
 Used land for constraction, human settlement etc.
 Cultivable Westland
 Cultivable land but not being utilized for last 3-5 years.
Land Use Pattern
Major Crops And Exports
 Paddy, Wheat, Maize, Sugarcane,
Mustard, Potato, Vegetables are major
crops of Pirganj.
 Extinct or nearly extinct crops are Jute,
Arahar, Aus Paddy etc .
 Main exports are Vegetables, Paddy,
Banana, sugarcane, Molasses etc.

 High Quality Coal, in Pirganj there are a
coal deposite located at a low depth near
Khalashpir.

cultivation of agricultural crop are
available here.

seasons.

 The name Pirganj comes from Pir means Saint/ Holy
Being and Ganj means Locality.
 There are many Pir Dargha ( Holy Place) in Pirganj
and people believe that due to these dargha no harmful
natural disaster doesnt occures here.
Summary
 Pirganj is relatively backdated in modern
agricultural techniques.
 Systematic information management policies will
increase the agriculture based knowledge of Pirganj
and agricultural production will increase.
 Government can utilize the natural resources of
Pirganj well.
