- 3. Dr. James Naismith is the person known world-wide as the inventor of basketball. Born in Canada in 1861. He got the concept from a childhood game he called duck-on-a-rock. He moved to Springfield, Massachusetts The reason he invented the sport was because he wanted to created a game for the students to play inside because of the Winter. The first game was played with a soccer ball and two peach baskets used as goals
- 4. There many rules in basketball. There are: Violations Fouls, which they are Flagrant, Personal, Technical. Click for more information about the rules. Referee Signals
- 5. On basketball you can get 3-points shooting behind the three point arc. Anything inside the three point arc it counts as two points If you get fouled you could shoot free throws from the free throw line, count as one point. You could also get 4 or 3 points if you get foul on the processes of shooting and make the basket. You shoot a foul shoot and if you make it you get the extra point
- 6. The courts dimensions depend on the level of competition. The courts is smaller for High School, than the college level, then the professional level is the largest.

- 10. I wasnt a person who was into basketball my early years, but I decided to try-out with my friends on our freshmen year. Ever since then I love to go to the park or to a gym and play. I like the sport because its a good way to get thing off your head. Its a good way to have fun and let go off my problems for awhile. It is also a good way off exercise. It helps me stay in shape. For my whole time in high school I have always played ball. Either if its on a team or by myself. Its just something I like to do.
