WHAT DID HE DO FOR PEOPLE IN POVERTY?
- What did he do?
Sam Goldman did a lot for people in poverty, he founded D.light, a company
which specifically designs solar lights for the needs of a $2-a-day customer. His
companys lights are used by over 30 million people over 40 countries.
- Is this what he hoped for?
Yes, he hoped to provide cheap and easy lighting for people in poverty.
WHAT INSPIRED HIM TO DO THIS?
He was bitten by a snake in a hut in West Africa, because he couldnt see it, as
the only light was a kerosene lamp. After this experience, he wanted to provide
lights to people in poverty, as he did not want them to experience similar
situations due to poor lighting.
DID HE GO THROUGH ANY CHALLENGES?
- Were there any challenges?
Not many, however, he had to undergo the tough rural environments, which
included poor light, and he endured a snake bite, when he decided to strive
toward the goal of providing efficient lighting for people in poverty.
- Did it cost him anything?
His process to starting his company was relatively smooth as, after banding
together with some fellow-enthusiasts at Stanford, their light was meet with
overwhelming response.
CONCLUSION
In conclusion, Sam Goldman has quite the large contribution to the social
problem of poverty. Although he did not go through many challenges except at
the start of his journey, being a social entrepreneur is not easy and many
challenges could come, and it could cost you many things. However, it is a very
good contribution to society and we should try to do thing to help this problem.
