Beatboxing originated from the mimicry of early drum machines known as beatboxes. Pioneers like Doug E. Fresh and Swifty developed new techniques like using breath sounds and inward snare. The basics sounds are the kick drum, hi-hat, and snare drum. Beatboxing also has a standard notation system to document rhythms using letters like b, t, and p.
