11. Remains of Bygone Days
The Barn The Silo
Created as treasured memorabilia, the Nichols family barn was
reborn as a bird feeder and the silo tiles became stepping stones.
13. Adventurer
The Impossible Dream carried
Betty and Jim on an anniversary
balloon ride.
Bettys zest for life and desire to
live it to the fullest had her
pursuing her own bucket list
long before it became
mainstream.
14. Traveler
As snowbirds, Betty and Jim
traveled many years to the state
of Texas, which became their
second home. There they built
friendships that crossed the
globe. As the saying goes with a
bit of literary license, She wasnt
born in Texas but she got there as
fast as she could. Although not a
native, Betty truly earned her
Texas green card.
Betty and Jim also visited Europe
in 1981, 1983, and 1986 while
their son, Patrick and his family
were stationed there during their
diplomatic assignments through
the U.S. State Department.
15. Mushroomer
Mayhap not members of the Michigan Mushroom Hunters, these intrepid
souls (Betty and son, Mike, with Jamie MacArthur and Pete Radecki) found
morels deep in the north woods of Lake Avalon. Although intrepid enough
to seek the fungus, none were adventurous to eat it.
19. Afterglow
Id like the memory of me to be a
happy one,
Id like to leave an afterglow of
smiles when life is done.
Id like to leave an echo whispering
softly down the ways,
Of happy times and laughing times
and bright and sunny days.
Id like the tears of those who
grieve, to dry before the sun;
Of happy memories that I leave
when life is done.
