Billy Elliot is about a young boy growing up in a mining town in England during a miners' strike in the 1980s. Billy discovers a passion for ballet despite coming from a family who expects him to box. He secretly takes ballet lessons from his teacher, Mrs. Wilkinson. Billy works hard and earns a spot at a prestigious ballet audition, but faces opposition from his family who do not approve of ballet. After his father and brother witness his talent, they support Billy's dreams and help him make it to the audition, where he wins a place at the ballet school.

Summary
Billy Elliot is a poor miner¡¯s son in Everington. At that time there is a strike for mines and Jackie (Billy¡¯s dad), Tony (Billy¡¯s brother) were on the strike. T hey are on strike because Margaret Thatcher wants to close all the mines. So they are poor. Nan (the grandma) is living with them. But Billy isn¡¯t an ordinary boy. He isn¡¯t good at boxing, school...His family wants Billy to box But he doesn¡¯t like it. One day his boxing teacher (George) is angry with him. H e says: ¡±Go and give the keys
to Mrs. Wilkinson (ballet teacher).¡± he goes there. But she doesn¡¯t hear Billy, so Billy does some ballet moves. The teacher gives Billy a pair of a ballet shoes. And a hard job comes to Billy. He is happy. But his family doesn¡¯t like ballet. T hen Mrs. Wilkinson says that he can go to a audition in Newcastle. So they practice secretly at that time Tony has got a fight with police. Then ballet teacher comes to house.
But dad and Tony doesn¡¯t believe her. So Billy missed the first audition. Then in winter Billy and Michael were in hall and they were dancing, when Jackie came Jackie see his son dancing. Billy dance and dance. so Jackie understand that his son was good at ballet. then they (Tony and Jackie) understand that they must find some money. They search money and Billy go to audition. Then letter came: BILLY WIN THE AUDITION!
The strike
The strike started in 1984. This time the government is Margaret THATCHER. .Margaret Thatcher wants to close all the mines. .So some miners go on a strike. .But some of them are still working. They called: scabs. . Billy¡¯s family were pickets.
