The workshop taught students how to compare DNA sequences from different organisms using databases. Students found genetic codes from three species and compared their structures, finding that each had different DNA sequences but more similar sequences indicated closer species. They performed a blast to separate sequences for comparison, analyzing a monkey's DNA and identifying similarities across species through the database.

Belinda was to familiarize us with and help us learn about how to compare different sequences of DNA using databases. The workshop consisted of finding three genetic code of different type of organisms and comparing their structure. Each species has different DNA sequences, which means that each one is different from the other. The greater similarity of DNA sequence, most species will appear. While doing the comparison, we performed a blast, which separates the sequence for comparison. In our case, we compared the DNA sequence of a monkey. Finally, we used the database to analyze DNA sequences and identify similar characteristics among different species.<br />
